Evaluate

Evaluate - 5/6 grade: the student evaluates the success of the product/solution in an objective manner based on the result of testing, and the views of the intended users. The student provides an evaluation of his or her own performance at each stage of the design cycle and suggests improvements. The  student  provides an appropriate evaluation of the impact of the product/ solution on life, society and/or the environment.
·      I felt that I did quite well with my final product. When playing my music, it was nice to get feedback and compliments on my music and as well helping others throughout the process and giving them feedback on how they can intensify their pieces. I was quite pleased that I had Mr. Holmes giving me feedback during the process because, it really did help me create a better piece. Though I had some ups and downs especially creating the links to each song and the time I had I felt that I maybe could have done better on the time. But otherwise all is good!

Create

Create - 5/6 grade: The student competently uses appropriate techniques and equipment. The student follows the plan and justifies any modifications made, resulting in a product/solution of appropriate quality using the resources available.

·      16/4/12 - What I did – playing around with the loops on garage band and just getting the hang of it.
·      21/4/12 - 22/4/12 – What I did – starting my own tune with the loops from garage band and making that into my introduction towards my house music.
·       23/4/12 – What I did – working on my piece and as well deciding what music should be in my piece.  AS well helping Laura with hers and just getting to know what she wanted.
·      25/4/12 – What I did – shared to john on what I have so far and asked his opinion on how I should link it to the next song which I haven’t decided on yet. John gave me the idea to use quotes from the step up trailers and as well the linking music played in there to link my music piece together. Helping Laura solve her problem that was garage band and the linking issues she had been having.
·      27/4/12 – What I did –  I downloaded all the step up trailers and broke them down into pieces on garage band to decide which part of the trailers I wanted to use for my track.  As well have Mr. Holmes came to give me suggestions to what I could include and what I can edit and work on. Which helped a lot
·      28/4/12 - 11/5/12 – What I did – I had put in all my music and linked everything together and now all I have left is to fix the small bits an problems I have in my piece. I stopped from my work and went over to help with Laura’s piece and both together figuring out a way to overcome some problems she and I had together.
·       17/5/12 – What I did – I decided to let Mr. Chettri have a listen to my piece during music and had time to edit the bits and pieces that weren’t working well in my music track.
·      21/5/12 – What I did – I had officially finished and I went over to help with Laura’s piece and played my music out loud for some people in the class who wanted to hear.

Plan

Plan - 5/6 grade: The student produces a plan that contains a number of detailed, logical steps that describe the use of resources and time. The student critically evaluates the plan and justifies any modifications to the design.

  ·      Time Line
o   April 27 - bibliography due (including where you got your music samples)    o   April 30 - planning complete    o   June 1 - session complete    o   June 8 - evaluation complete     ·      My original plan was to create my own tune that is quite different from the other music that I plan to put in my house music and blend that in with other dance music. As well try to get at least 30 minutes of a track. I don’t know if I can be able to follow the movements exactly but would try to show that there are different movements in the track.    o   Start straight with a beat and slowly incorporating the loops from garage band into the track    o   Continue that for a bit and slowly dying down and beginning of a quote from step up that connects to the next song.    o   And the start putting songs in that would mix and match well together.    o   And then end with the beat that I started with.   ·      After Mr. Holmes came to listen to my music, he gave me some advice and suggestions and how I should not add anymore tunes towards my house music as there are already enough to create my entire piece.    o   Start with the good feeling accapella (idea from Mr. Holmes) that slowly fades with the beat starting up.    o   Continue with that for a few mins and then bring the quote from the step up trailer and the good feeling accapella that links into the dub step version of good feeling.    o   International Love starts playing after the another quote  from step up 3 trailers.    o   I bring it down to the tune from the beginning for a bit.    o   I start playing another dance music call my name that brings back the dance beat.    o And repeat the following of International Love and Good feeling    o And the beginning tune again to end it all together.  ·      I think after having Mr. Holmes listen to my track and give me suggestions, he helped me make a better track and understand the concept of house music better.

Investigate

Investigate  - 5/6 grade: The student explains the problem, discussing its relevance. The student critically investigates the problem, evaluating information from a broad range of appropriate, acknowledged sources. The student describes detailed methods for appropriate testing to evaluate the product/solution against the design specification.

Information:

·      The problem for this unit was to create a house music track that would last at least 15 to 30 minutes long. I had a tough time deciding what type of house music I wanted to create, and after thinking for quite awhile and playing around with garage band, I decided that I would create a track that people would be able to dance to throughout of the whole track. I wanted to use the music I had in my iTunes library, to show me through house music. The presentation done by Mr. Chettri was quite useful because he reminded me of keeping in time and elements put into house music. That was basically our guide from then on.
    o   1st movement : Sonata form.
o   2nd movement : Slow. May use sonata, ternary or theme-and-variation form.
    o   3rd movement : Dance-like. Minuet and Trio form.
o   4th movement : Brilliant and heroic. May use sonata, rondo or sonata-rondo form.
